Temple of Heaven and The Hutongs…
Travel Location: Beijing,China
I visited the Temple of Heaven in Beijing today. In the afternoon, I took a pedicab through the narrow Hutongs, Beijing’s narrow streets. It was a great day.
What a fun packed day!
Temple of Heaven:
The Temple of Heaven was built in between 1409 and 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor – who was responsible for the building of the Forbidden City. Just like the Great Wall and Tiananmen Square it was very crowded.
The building has been described as “a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design”. I totally agree with this as the building itself is like a massive giant towering over a great town square.
The weather is quite similar to back home except in England the summers don’t get quite as hot! The country is just going into winter so it isn’t at its warmest.
The Hutongs:
These narrow streets date back around 700 years ago. There were many trips I could take to explore them: walking, cycling, car or pedicab. I chose a pedicab as I have never been in one before and it would be a great and new experience.
Tomorrow I will be having my last day in Beijing and will be catching the bullet train to Shanghai.
