London… what can I say? theres so much to say that i cant say in this public blog, but i will fit in whatever appropriate.
Day 1= very tired, didn’t do much of anything.
Day 2= was initially very traumatizing. Jade was in school most of the week and ATM machines would not let me withdraw cash. eventually i found out that i had to go to this specific bank to withdraw cash. PHEW-i could now actually eat. Jade and I met up, went to St. Paul’s Cathedral (beautiful), and then visited the Tower of London, where Henry the 8th had many of his women beheaded, mostly due to the fact that they were not bearing male heirs for him (jackass). The Tower of London was indeed very incredible, medieval and old and HUGE. Jade and I took pictures for quite a long time of what we thought was “London Bridge” to only find out later that it was “Tower Bridge,” but that Tower Bridge is much more beautiful so its all good. That night we went to a club that has extremely cheap drinks and mixed drinks. It was quite fun until everyone except myself wanted to go home early due to class the next day. I guess it was okay, seeing as English boys do not have shit on the gorgeous French men I have seen.
Day 3= Visited Buckingham Palace, saw the House of Parliament (but was too late to see a debate-rats!), saw Big Ben, met up with Jason and his friend and went to Westminster Abbey, which is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Tombs are literally above ground in this abbey, which is absolutely gorgeous and of course allows no photography. We saw a church service which was quite creepy if you ask me because it was Catholic and there were little boys singing and I can simply not take choir boys seriously anymore. You can thank the Catholic church for that.
Day 4= Got up SUPER early to watch the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, which was quite hilarious if you ask me. There were many tourists, none of whom knew what was going on, so everyone was running from one side of the gate to the other, waiting for the guards with red coats and ridiculous black hats to enter. fancy that. they DID enter (i have a video!) playing instruments, and marching in line. Inside the Palace, they placed many songs, which were very amusing (such as “Dancing Queen”), which amused the tourists very much and allowed the seriousness of the changing of the guards to be taken lightly. Afterwards, I went to Kings Cross to get my picture taken with platform 9 and 3/4 (on my way to Hogwarts), which was wayyyy too cool minus the fact that i was alone so i had to have other people take pictures of me with the platform, which would have been embarrassing minus the fact that i’m in Europe so normal embarrassing things generally are not that bad. afterwards, met up with jade and went to the British Museum (oldest museum in England, possibly the world. very old artifacts), and went to Primark- most RIDICULOUS store ever. seriously once you enter there you enter the jungle-people tearing clothes off shelves, shoving eachother aside, there were WAAAAYYYY too many people. because the clothing is awesome and cheap. however it is not for the weak of heart as i felt as if i would have a heart attack there and I have a completely fine heart. lolz. that night we went to this bar that had a 5 pound cover, and 12 pound cocktails!!!!! i told jade i would be right back and went to the local liquor store to down a beer before going back (way cheaper), and this guy in a random act of kindness bought me a beer. nice. then i met this other guy walking down the street and asked him about halloween parties for the following day to which he told me to follow him and hed show me. he showed me this bar and i ended up meeting this real nice guy, Tom. After i left to return to jade Tom and i kept in contact and he agreed to sightsee with me the following day.
Day 5= Tate Modern museum with Tom. Yes, there was some nice art (such as Pollack), but there was also a bunch of crap too. Whatever, “modern” art is really crap sometimes. We then walked next to the river which had this incredible view and lots of things going on which was really cool. Went to the National Gallery which was EXCELLENT full of impressionist paintings, as well as paintings from Amsterdam (which capture light and the sky incredibly), and older italian paintings as well. i thoroughly loved it. later on met up with jade again to celebrate halloween, which was,… okay. tom met up with us later.
Day 6= Tom and I returned to the National Gallery again (I just couldnt get enough), and then went out to eat fish and chips. delicious! Left the next morning. Although my England trip started out not that great, I was very beyond sad to have to hop on a 5 AM train and leave.
