First sign of Sex Tourism!!
Travel Location: Nha-Trang,Vietnam
Arrived in Nha Trang after another long stint on a sleeper bus with two drivers that seemed to be in some sort of competition with one another to see who could play chicken with the largest trucks and busses leaving it till an almost head on collision before pulling back in! So we decided it was better not to look and get some sleep!
Got straight off the bus into another good quality hotel for a bargain price which was very welcome as we were both exhausted from the long journey.
Exchanging obscenities with the young whore!
We went to check out the beach area that was around ten minutes walk from the hotel and decided to do some Scuba Diving as Nha Trang is the only place in Vietnam to do it!
After booking ourselves on a dive boat the next morning, we took ourselves off to the beach to chill for the rest of the day. After around five minutes the hawkers started coming round trying to sell us all sorts of CRAP, which I sometimes welcomed because it meant I could have some fun with them by pretending to be interested, then bartering them down in price before changing my mind completely. All in good fun with some well versed Vietnamese phrases thrown in for good measure, and if that failed to get rid of them, as they were all women I would simply start asking them to marry me or invite myself round for dinner etc which they found highly amusing.
One beach seller women then must have taken a real shine to Kate and I and kept coming to see us just for a chat. Then drama drama as a couple of middle aged fat Australian men were on loungers in front of us, one with a very young looking Vietnamese girl with him which was the first sign of Sex Tourism we had seen in Vietnam, as there was none of this going on in the north of the country. Well we heard an exchange of words between a lady that was giving a beach massage to one of the Australians and this young prostitute who by all accounts was bartering her down on price on behalf of the fat old men, next thing about half a dozen of these older women who worked the beach selling things turned up shouting and exchanging obscenities with the young whore and decided to sit with us while hurling their abuse, which I thought was great and of course was egging them on hoping for a fight to break out, with Kate telling me to shut up and mind my own business! What a laugh that was. We both had a massage on the beach at a knockdown price as we were mates with the beach women by then. But I have to say the one that did me had hands rougher than mine, hence it felt a lot like being rubbed down with sand paper!
Next day Scuba! We were picked up early and off we went to the boat which was a big old wooden craft in good order so had a pleasant enough journey out to the dive sites. Kate had decided to do a Try Dive which was good, and I was doing two dives as I’m already qualified to Advanced level, ha Check me out!! (was showing off then). I have to say it was REALLY REALLY SHIT!! No fish as they probably buggered off due to the extensive fishing in the area and rubbish everywhere. The Vietnamese have no idea about environmental issues and throw rubbish everywhere which is apparent throughout the whole country and even in the sea. The second dive was a little better for me as went through some good underwater caves and actually saw lots of fish! I realised they were probably all hiding there from the fishermen. Kate thought her try dive was boring too as there was nothing to see.
We didn’t really do much else in Nha Trang and just chilled out for the rest of our time there mainly people watching, especially interesting we thought was in one bar watching a group of young Vietnamese girls (obviously pros) moving from table to table of men until someone said yes to whatever deal they were offering, then off they went with said bloke in a taxi. We decided then we were bored of Nha Trang and planned to leave for Mui Ne the next day.
