Man this places stinks! Its a natrual therma thingy! Which means it has lots of holes in the ground full of gases, hot bubbling water and mud.
The hostel (hot rocks) I stayed in used to be a old school and it really shows! I went to a nice English pub for dinner, it was so old conutry pud oldie worldie I could of been back home in blighty!
I really wanted to see the glowy little buggers!
The next day I was booked on to a tour to Waitomo to the spellbound caves. These are were the biggest gathering of glow worms live. They are soo cool.
I had to do a 2 hour bus to get there but I really wanted to see the glowy little buggers! After doing a bit of hiking and caving walking we reached the place were we would see them. We went down a stream (on boat) and was then asked to turn off our head lamps – it was so dark I couldnt see my hand in front of my face. As we got deeper in to the cave we started to see these green sparkly lights above us – the deeper we got the more we could see, there was thousands of them! We couldnt take any piccy’s of them but David Attenborough’s did a doc on them last year, I even remember watching it.
The next day i went to the local parks were they have thermal pools, its a bit pongy but quite nice. I then caught a bus to Taupo
