Back in London
Travel Location: London,United-Kingdom
We checked out of our hotel in Paris earlyish and made our way to the airport. As we were checking in we ran into a Canadian couple from Invermere who were traveling around Europe on their honeymoon. We started chatting with them and managed to keep talking to them until we arrived in central London.
Of course our easyJet flight was delayed (3 for 4 if you’re keeping track, 4 for 4 if you include the delay on the runway on the way to Paris). Once in London our stop for the next two nights was at Belinda, a kiwi friend of Karen’s house. We got there in the early evening and made ourselves comfortable until Belinda got home from work. For dinner we met up with Belinda’s sister and the local kiwi contingent at a local New Zealand burger joint. The burgers were outstanding but when you do the conversion from pounds to dollars (something I strongly recommend you don’t do) the price becomes startling.
Belinda lives in some upscale posh neighborhood called Primrose Hill and some of her neighbours include Jamie Oliver and Gwen Stefani. She has managed to luck out with an affordable flat in such a nice area.
Our first full day back in London we took the tube into town and bought half price tickets for The Producers, we then went on the London Eye – fun but probably not worth the wait in the summer months. The advantage of traveling in October is that there are no lineups, we managed to simply walk straight on without any wait.
After the Eye e wandered around Westminster and then down the Thames. After some serious effort we managed to find a pub for dinner in the Covent Gardens area. Who knew it could be so hard to find a pub in central London, of course later on we walked a different route and passed 4 or 5.
The show was great, funny with spectacular sets. Once again we were shocked by the price of a glass of wine at intermission.
On our last full day in London we went to Camden market and then walked through Regents Park to Oxford Street. After that we went back to Belinda’s and grabbed our bags and headed off to Brighton to stay with Rory for a couple days.
