From Singapore we got a train back to KL and then on to Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB). There is no public transport any more to frasers hill, so from KKB we got a taxi to Frasers hill for 70MYR. Frasers hill was a welcome break from the heat at 1524m above sea level “hill” really does not do it justice. It was very quiet when we arrived and all the budget hotels were being redeveloped, we asked around and we found that the owner of the small shop had an apartment for rent for 100MYR which is about 20 pounds at the silverpark resort. This was the most luxurious place we have so far stayed, we later found out that to rent s similar apartment direct form the resort would of cost 200MYR.

The Main reason for coming to frasers hill was for the birds and as soon as we arrived we saw a bird wave including Chesnut-capped laughingthrush (spectacled), Silver-eared mesias and long-tailed sibias. Birding was generally very easy except that the clouds would often not clear until 8.30am though perhaps due to the temperature the birds seemed active for longer. Other birds regularly seen included Mountain Fulvettas, large Niltavas and Streaked Spiderhunters. Because it was expensive we stayed only three nights, and then got a taxi to Raub where we got a connecting bus to Jerantut.
