Last Morning in SJ found a great typical restaurant with a gracious waiter. Prices weren’t too bad I think 2 large coffee ($2) and breakfast ($5) was ok for a very nice place. If the photos arent too well ‘placed I think I need time to learn the set up here better.

Also for those of you who clicked the Subscribe Button you may get a notice that a new report is posted when it is only me editing and learning how to set my photos correctly.

I am sitting on the veranda overlooking the Pacific and the dense greenery ever present in CR. Humming birds, chickens, horses, Iguanas and a very loud monkey this morning but I didn’t see him. I will see his buddies today in the national park a couple of k’s down the road. The bus ride was 3 hrs from San Jose and very comfortable. I arrived just at 12 but the bus was full so they put on a special bus and I got away at 1 instead of 2. Typical mountain roads, no IE. 0 shoulder, very narrow and never straight or flat for more than a few meters. Here in CR if it gets flat often there is a house or small village.

On the bus I talked with a local engineer in the big rice factory in Quepos and it helped my Spanish.

Good sleep (good bed, 2 German girls in the room, very loud party hostel, my ear plugs worked as planned), fan = temp perfect. Up at 7 for coffee, bread & jam. On guy one flew.. return from Seattle for $500 plus the train from Vancouver I paid $1050 he used www.cheaptickets.com.

The rainy season just is ending disappointing some here before me. Quepos (6,000 pop) is the real town here and Manuel Antonio (1 street) the resort, but Quepos anywhere else would be an amazing resort with amazing beaches very near to it. The road Quepos to MA has villas and hotels all along the 7 KM’s tucked into the side of the mountain and often hidden by the jungle. It is beautiful but a little touristy and expensive for me. There are cheap hotels and private rooms but they are very rustic. I will visit MA National Parque as soon as I finish this post.

Yesterday walked 2 or 3 km to MA Saw the park entrance (closed Mon.), little town and people learning to surf, had a beer at a very nice beachfront cafe. At 01:00 took a bus (50 cents-10 minutes) Manuel Antonio to Quepo. The bus drive thinks he is Mario Andretti. Actually I should have know he would drive like that as he was very impatient when he picked me up.

Very much a resort, not much chance for interaction with locals here and even Quepos is crawling with Back Packers. Everything is carved and blended into the jungle all along 1 road that stretches 7Km Quepos to Manuel Antonio. The road is not wide enough for 2 buses and the shoulder is maybe 2″ (inches) wide similar to the rest of the road to San Jose 3 hours away. I don’t think it could be more scenic than here.

People blast in for a surf lesson (the surf was quite small this morning) or a walk in the national park or they live here as many gringos do or just enjoy the sun beach and surf for thier vacation.

Gotta go the parque becons, and apparenty you can leave your stuff on the beach in the parque safely so I am looking forward to a snorkel.
