After

having our last breakfast on board, we sailed from the islands to the mainland.

We reached Abel Point Marina just after 10 am and made our way to the car.

After stoking up the car with petrol we made our way south on Bruce Highway.

The Bruce Highway is not very spectacular as it drives just inside the coast

and you are not able to see the water. Rather, the highway is flanked by trees

and the main source of excitement is overtaking one of the slow moving trucks.

We reached today Agnes Waters which is a small town just north of Bundaberg and

south of Mackay. There is another small town just a few kilometres north called

“Town of 1770’ which got its name from when James Cook set foot ashore this

part of Australia in 1770. We settled on the camping ground and went straight

to bed.
