Day 11
Travel Location: Clearwater,Canada
Departed Jasper after buying breakfast in the tasty and very busy ‘Jasper Bear Paws Bakery’. Did a lot of driving, via Valemount (to collect Céline’s camera, which she lost on the glacier a few days previously, but which was picked up by a woman who returned it to her… see, there are nice, honest people out there). Had a quick toilet stop at the Mt. Robson visitor centre. This is, I think, the highest peak of the Rockies, but the summit is almost always in clouds… still it’s a beautiful photo.
Stopped for lunch near Blue River, beside a lake, where we did some sunbathing and swimming and where Ben and Damon showed off their Olympic standard diving skills! Then we counted the number of carriages on a passing train… 89!!
Beds!
Onwards to Wells Grey Guest Ranch, checked in and relaxed…. No pitching tents today… we had log cabins (Wey, hey!) AND they had beds (luxury!)
While some sorted out the campfire and dinner, a group went on a horse trek through the nearby forest. This one was more my kind of trek… lots of trotting and cantering in amongst the trees and streams. Much more exciting.
Back for gorgeous hot showers, great food and some confusing cards games before we all took to our log cabin beds!
