Whew! Today was a crazy day! We took the train for London this morning around 9:00. Mrs. Parker was looking for Platform 9-3/4, but the train left from Platform 6! Our first stop was Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guard. It was very crowded! Mrs. Kidd was able to squeeze up to the fence to snap a few pictures. Then we made a short stop to the Hard Rock Cafe – the original one that bagan in 1971. Next we took the ‘Underground’ or subway to Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey Cathedral to gaze at the beautiful buildings. We cruised the River Thames past the London Eye and London Bridge (and, no, it was not completely falling down – only kind of falling) to our destination the Tower of London. We saw the Crown Jewels (which they will NOT let you take pictures of!), the Bloody Tower, and Henry the VIII armoury (all of his suits of armor and weapons). Very interesting stories we read about along our walking tour throughout the complex. Our last stop lead up to St. Paul’s Cathedral with its enormous dome. Being Sunday, the doors were open to everyone, although cameras not allowed (again). On our way to the train station, returning to Milton Keynes, we stopped at a small grocery store and bought food so we could cook for our hosts. Dinner menu included cheeseburgers, fried potatoes, and banana pudding for dessert. After a fun-filled, busy, exciting day with Mrs. Howard, we are now off to bed for some rest. Tomorrow we will enjoy a day at Bourton Meadows School teaching fun facts about Oklahoma.

“WOW! What’s up with Henry the VIII??” (our topic of discussion many times throughout the day)
